What is your experience with trying to conceive after being on the pill?

Angela asked:

I’m not trying myself just yet, but I am curious how long it may take when we do start trying. I’ve been on the pill for about 8 years. Will this affect the time it will take to conceive? Will it ruin my chances althogether? Eight years seems like such a long time to be manipulating your cycle.

My wife got pregnant in only 3 months after stopping the pill. She had been on it much longer than 8 years.

I was able to become pregnant after 2 months of being off of the pill. I was only on the pill for about 1 year though. Hey, if it’s something you want to do, then go for it.

I heard it can take up to a year to concieve after stoping the pill. Though some people can get pregnant after a month of stopping. I don’t know why though.
